The fragile ceasefire between Iran and Israel appears to be on the verge of collapse as renewed rocket fire, military alerts, and fiery political statements escalate tensions in the Middle East.
What Triggered the Tension?
According to regional sources, rockets were launched late last night from Iranian-backed groups in southern Lebanon and Syria, targeting areas near northern Israel.
Though the Israeli Iron Dome intercepted most projectiles, minor injuries and damage have been reported in Galilee towns.
Israel has responded with limited airstrikes on alleged militant bases near the Syrian border.
Leaders Speak Out
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned,
“We will not tolerate any violation of our sovereignty. If Iran continues to provoke, we will respond with full force.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused Israel of breaking the ceasefire agreement first, calling the recent strikes a “declaration of war.”
International Community Reacts
- United Nations urged both sides to show restraint.
- The U.S. State Department has asked American citizens to avoid travel to the region.
- Russia and China have also called for immediate de-escalation and emergency talks.
Ceasefire Agreement at Risk
The ceasefire deal, brokered in late May by the European Union and Qatar, aimed to halt weeks of fighting and avoid a full-scale regional war.
Experts now fear that this latest spike in violence could unravel months of diplomatic effort.
