In a shocking turn of events, a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 training jet crashed into a school in northern Dhaka earlier today, killing at least 19 people, many of them schoolchildren. The tragic accident occurred during what officials have described as a routine training mission.

What Happened?

Eyewitnesses report seeing the jet flying unusually low before it spiraled and smashed directly into the school premises. Explosions followed as the jet ignited upon impact. Fire and emergency services rushed to the scene, pulling out students and staff from the debris.

"We heard a loud boom, and then the building shook. We saw smoke everywhere and people running," said a teacher at the school.

Over 160 others have been reported injured, with many in critical condition. Hospitals are currently overwhelmed, and a medical emergency has been declared in nearby districts.

What Was the Aircraft?

The aircraft involved was an F-7MB fighter jet, part of the Bangladesh Air Force’s aging training fleet. The pilot is believed to have tried ejecting seconds before impact but was reportedly killed on the spot.

National Reaction & Mourning

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep sorrow and ordered a full military investigation. A national day of mourning has been declared, and all schools across the capital have been closed for 48 hours.

“This is a dark day for our nation. We mourn the innocent lives lost and pledge a full investigation,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

Questions Being Raised

This incident has sparked serious concerns about the safety of military training operations near residential areas and schools. Many are calling for tighter airspace regulations and relocation of such exercises away from civilian zones.
